Dütschow Bridge viewpoint
The observation tower at the Dütschow bridge offers a unique view over the fish ponds and the Müritz-Elde waterway.
The Lewitz fish ponds were artificially created in the 19th century. With a water surface area of around 900 hectares and a depth of 1.20 m, they are mainly used for carp farming. There is an observation tower on the edge of the ponds, right next to the Dütschow bridge. From here, visitors can observe the diverse birdlife of the Lewitz, including white-tailed eagles, peregrine falcons, gray herons, great egrets and many more. A visit is worthwhile at any time of year - but it is most beautiful during the bird migration, when numerous migratory birds rest on the fish ponds and put on an unforgettable spectacle.
