Other attractions in Thelkow
Thelkow village church
● Thelkow
Thelkow village church is a fieldstone building from the middle of the 13th century, the transitional period from Romanesque to Gothic architecture. The building was erected from around 1260 to 1280 in fieldstone and partly in brick. The church consists of a square choir, a two-bay nave and the north vestry. Some bricks were also used in the robust pillars on the west side, in the west gable and in the dome of the choir room. The richly structured south portal with multiple stepped walls is worth seeing. The choir gable was renewed in the post-medieval period. Inside the western bay of the nave, there is no longer a vault. However, the beginnings on which the dome was once built are clearly visible. Today, a flat wooden ceiling forms the upper end. The ribs of the choir vault are decorated with star rosettes and the intersection with a beautiful lamb of God keystone.
Thelkow Manor House
● Thelkow
The Thelkow manor house now serves as a school camp. The history of Thelkow Estate dates back to 1358, when it was first mentioned in historical records. From the end of the 14th century, the Knights of Bassewitz owned the estate for more than 100 years before it passed to the von der Lühe family, who remained the owners until 1783.
