Ahlbeck pier

Ahlbeck pier
📍

Dünenstraße 1

17419 Seebad Ahlbeck

The Ahlbeck pier is considered the landmark of the island of Usedom and, like most of the nearby spa architecture villas, dates back to the century before last. Built in 1898, the "centenary" with its red roof, four green towers and 280-metre-long jetty is the only remaining pier of its kind on the German Baltic coast. Loriot also used this very special place for his film "Pappa ante Portas". In addition to a restaurant, it also offers a landing stage for excursion boats. Every year in July, the Ahlbeck Summer Festival and the Long Night of Music take place on the concert square and on Ahlbeck's promenade. Visitors can look forward to various regional and national bands, a fire show, a hands-on circus for children and a historical swimwear show.

Ahlbeck pier - the landmark of the seaside resort of Ahlbeck and Usedom

The Ahlbeck pier is one of the most famous sights on the German Baltic Sea coast and is the landmark of the seaside resort of Ahlbeck on the island of Usedom in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The building, which dates back to 1898, stands out with its striking red roof, four green towers and a 280-meter-long jetty. Today, it is the only remaining pier of its kind on the German Baltic Sea coast - comparable historic bridges such as those on Rügen or Fischland-Darß-Zingst have not survived in this form.

History and special features of the "centenary"

The pier, affectionately known as the "Centennial", blends harmoniously into the surrounding seaside resort architecture, whose elegant villas also date back to the century before last. Cult comedian Loriot also chose the Ahlbeck pier as the backdrop for his film "Pappa ante Portas". In addition to a restaurant on the bridge itself, it also offers a landing stage for excursion boats.

Ahlbeck Summer Festival and Long Night of Music

Every July, the promenade around the Ahlbeck pier is transformed into a festival mile: At the Ahlbeck Summer Festival and the Long Night of Music, regional and national bands perform on the concert square and promenade. Visitors can also look forward to a fire show, a hands-on circus for children and a historical swimwear show.
