Hof Denissen - Farm store Schwerin
Our farm store in Schwerin is located on Marienplatz, directly opposite the Schlosspark-Center.
Our lovingly run farm has been in existence since 1992. 750 dairy cows and their offspring live on our dairy farm under the best conditions. We sell some of the milk directly via the milk filling station in the Schwerin farm store. As the fresh milk is not homogenized, but only pasteurized at low temperatures, the good ingredients are retained. We have also been marketing our A2 milk, which is GMO-free, since spring 2018. This organically healthy original milk is free from additives and contributes to an even higher digestibility of all our dairy products. These are available in the farm store alongside our fresh, seasonal vegetables such as asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers. The huge selection of cakes and pastries comes from our farm's own patisserie. An extensive range of many new products from Löbke, Nusswerk, Wajos and Yankee Candle, among others, round off the offer. For your lunch break or if you're feeling peckish, you can help yourself to the sumptuous salad buffet or try our delicious sandwiches. Right next door is our famous Wöbbeliner ice cream made in-house, which you should not miss out on. Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 9.30 am to 6.00 pm Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Hof Denissen - Schwerin farm store with its own milk filling station
The Schwerin farm store at Hof Denissen on Marienplatz is a real address for anyone who values regional and natural foods. The Denissen family has been running their dairy farm with around 750 cows since 1992 - and sells some of the fresh milk directly from the milk filling station in the store. The milk is only gently pasteurized, not homogenized, so that its valuable ingredients are preserved. Since 2018, the range has also included GMO-free A2 milk, a particularly well-tolerated original milk without additives.

In addition to milk and dairy products, the farm store offers fresh, seasonal vegetables such as asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers. The farm's own patisserie provides a large selection of cakes and pastries. A salad buffet and sandwiches are available to satisfy small appetites in between meals. The famous Wöbbelin ice cream made on the farm is right next door - a highlight that hardly anyone will want to miss.

Equestrian monument to Frederick Francis II in Schwerin Palace Gardens

The equestrian statue of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin stands opposite the palace on a square in the palace garden. Surrounded by flowers, rose bushes and the romantic arcades, the grounds are a highlight of the Schwerin Palace Gardens. A monument to the Grand Duke After the death of the popular Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II - the builder of the palace in Schwerin - his son commissioned the construction of a monumental statue. The object was financed by donations. It is considered to be the only historical equestrian statue in the whole of Mecklenburg. An eventful history The work by the Mecklenburg sculptor Ludwig Brunow was ceremoniously unveiled in 1893 - in the presence of high-ranking state guests such as Emperor Wilhelm II and Grand Duke Vladimir of Russia, as well as all the nobility of the Mecklenburg court. Inspired by the equestrian statues of Roman emperors and the Prussian Elector in Berlin, it was designed according to the typical, mostly military-influenced taste of the late 19th century. The figures of the Grand Duke and his horse stand on a marble plinth more than 4 meters high. The ruler's virtues The plinth is surrounded by allegories of the 4 virtues of rulers: Strength, Justice, Wisdom and Faith. Two commemorative plaques show events from Frederick Francis II's reign - the construction of the new university building in Rostock and the Grand Duke's entry into Schwerin in 1871. The monument was lucky to survive two wars and two dictatorships. It escaped being melted down for war purposes, the iconoclasm after the end of the war and being scrapped.
