Behmshöhe observation tower - experience Neubrandenburg from above
The Behmshöhe observation tower in Neubrandenburg is one of the most striking viewpoints in inland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The 34-metre-high tower is located in Nemerower Holz on the eponymous Behmshöhe and dates back to a citizens' initiative in 1897. It was opened to the public in 1905 - and has been attracting visitors from all over the region ever since.
View over Lake Tollensesee and the hilly landscape of Mecklenburg
Those who climb the 111 steps up to the viewing platform are rewarded with an extensive panorama: the clear Lake Tollensesee is just as much in view as the gently undulating landscape around Neubrandenburg. This hilly landscape differs significantly from the flat coastal strips of the Baltic Sea, as seen on Rügen, Usedom or Fischland-Darß-Zingst - and makes the tower a worthwhile excursion destination for Baltic Sea holidaymakers who want to explore the hinterland of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Note on accessibility
The Behmshöhe observation tower is unfortunately not accessible for people with limited mobility due to the steps. The tower is usually open from mid-April to mid-November.
