RAKU Workshop Kronsberg - Andrea Schlief in Lüdershagen OT Kronsberg
In Lüdershagen OT Kronsberg, in the middle of the tranquil landscape of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Andrea Schlief has been running her ceramics workshop since 2009. The focus is on the RAKU technique - an experimental firing method that has its origins in the Japanese tea ceremony and has become an independent form of artistic expression in Europe. Every vessel created here is unique: shaped by chance, the four elements and a fine sense of asymmetrical beauty.
Philosophy and craftsmanship - RAKU as an encounter with the elements
RAKU means freedom of design right up to the last moment of the firing process. Fire, water, earth and air determine the result - no two pieces are the same. Andrea Schlief completed her training as a ceramist with Reinhart Löber in Saal and deepened her knowledge by spending time working with ceramists in Tuscany, Italy. This versatile training is combined in her work with a deep connection to the nature of the Baltic Sea region.
Ceramic artist with roots in the Fischland-Darß-Zingst regionAndrea Schlief lives and works near the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, one of the most scenic corners of the German Baltic Sea coast. She taught at the Freie Schule Prerow and regularly exhibits her work at exhibitions, including at the Kunstscheune Barnstorf, the Künstlerdeck in Wieck am Darß and the renowned Galerie Schnepel III in Ahrenshoop. The connection to the artistic region around Ahrenshoop is no coincidence: the area between Rostock and Stralsund has a long tradition as a place for art and crafts.
