At vantage points that Friedrich chose as motifs for his works and which are still preserved today, you can experience the typical Friedrich atmosphere. The Greifswald Caspar David Friedrich Picture Trail leads through the town of Greifswald and the surrounding area. At 15 stations, walkers can discover important places where the painter lived and worked. The journey begins at Lange Straße 57, the birthplace of the painter, and then leads through the historic old town, past the large museum harbor with its many traditional ships to the ruins of Eldena Abbey. The picture trail is easy to explore on foot or by bike. The Caspar David Friedrich Center also offers public guided tours. Tip: In the brochure „Caspar David Friedrich. A tour in his footsteps in Greifswald“ contains detailed information on the life and work of the painter. Available from the Caspar David Friedrich Center, the Greifswald Information Office on the market square and the Pomeranian State Museum.
