Juliusruh Park
Beautiful park in the village of Juliusruh.
Juliusruh Park is a late Baroque park dating from around 1800. The park was laid out on dune sand by Julius von der Lancken in the last third of the so-called "Swedish period", i.e. when Rügen belonged to the Kingdom of Sweden, from 1795. The result was a circular rococo-style park with a single-storey country house, riding arena, bathing house, orange house and two pavilions. The highlight is the swan house on an island in the pond to the south-east. The lime tree seedlings came from Skåne in southern Sweden in 1795. After the estate was sold to Philip Karl Riekmann in 1803, the country house and the associated farm buildings quickly fell into disrepair and the park became overgrown. In 1835, the city of Stralsund acquired the property. Since then, the park has been used as a spa park. A granite stone is dedicated to the initiator of this park. Only part of the once magnificent park has been preserved as a spa park. Admission to the park is free. It is open all year round. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
Park Juliusruh in Breege OT Juliusruh - late baroque park on Rügen
Park Juliusruh in Breege OT Juliusruh is one of the most remarkable historical parks on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Julius von der Lancken had the park laid out in rococo style on dune sand from 1795 - back in the days when Rügen belonged to the Kingdom of Sweden. The original complex included a single-storey country house, a riding arena, a bathing and orange house and two pavilions.
The Swan House - highlight in the Juliusruh spa gardens
A particular highlight of the park is the swan house, which stands on an island in the pond to the south-east. The lime tree seedlings that still characterize the park today originate from Skåne in Sweden and were planted here in 1795. A granite stone in the park commemorates the initiator Julius von der Lancken.
