Born fishing church on the Baltic Sea - a masterpiece of Darss craftsmanship

The Born fishing church is one of the most remarkable buildings on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast. Built entirely of wood and covered with a traditional cane roof, it impressively reflects the typical Darss architecture. Built in 1934 and 1935 by local craftsmen, it was based on a design by architect Bernhard Hopp (1893-1962).

Wooden figures, altar wall and organ of the Fischerkirche Born

The interior of the church is particularly worth seeing: since 1984, four wooden figures have been embedded in the altar wall, which Bernhard Hopp carved in 1935 and which were long considered lost. The ensemble is complemented by an organ from 1991 - the masterpiece of organ builder Andreas Arnold.

The Fischerkirche Born is not just a quiet place of worship, but also a lively cultural venue. Concerts, literary evenings and gallery exhibitions are occasionally held here, making the building a special meeting place for visitors and locals alike in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park.
