The fishermen's church in Born impresses with its Darß architecture - made entirely of wood and covered with a cane roof. The all-wooden Fischerkirche was built by Darß craftsmen in 1934/35. It was based on a model by architect Bernhard Hopp (1893-1962) and is adorned with a cane roof. Since 1984, four wooden figures carved by Bernhard Hopp in 1935, which were thought to be lost, have been embedded in the altar wall. The church received an organ in 1991. It is the masterpiece of organ builder Andreas Arnold. Concerts, literary evenings and galleries are occasionally held here.

Born fishing church on the Baltic Sea - a masterpiece of Darss craftsmanship

The Born fishing church is one of the most remarkable buildings on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast. Built entirely of wood and covered with a traditional cane roof, it impressively reflects the typical Darss architecture. Built in 1934 and 1935 by local craftsmen, it was based on a design by architect Bernhard Hopp (1893-1962).

Wooden figures, altar wall and organ of the Fischerkirche Born

The interior of the church is particularly worth seeing: since 1984, four wooden figures have been embedded in the altar wall, which Bernhard Hopp carved in 1935 and which were long considered lost. The ensemble is complemented by an organ from 1991 - the masterpiece of organ builder Andreas Arnold.
