Parking Lot 1 (Börgerende Watchtower) is the ideal starting point for a day at the beach on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast. The parking lot is just 100 meters from the clothing-required beach, while the dog beach is about 200 meters away. Beach chair rentals are also right nearby—there’s hardly a more convenient way to start a Baltic Sea getaway in the region between Rostock and Wismar.

Seafood snack bar, dike terraces, and a former GDR border watchtower in Börgerende

Right next to the parking lot, the Börgerende dike terraces invite you to take a break with a variety of snack options. “Sunnus Fischerhütte” offers fresh fish for sale as well as a fish snack bar—a typical experience of North German coastal culture, similar to what you’d find in Fischland-Darß-Zingst or Warnemünde. Another special attraction here is the preserved GDR border watchtower in Börgerende, which serves as a reminder of the history of German division along the Baltic Sea coast.

Getting to the Börgerende Watchtower Parking Lot – Bus and Train

A bus stop for Line 130 is located directly at the parking lot and offers connections to Line 119 toward Bad Doberan as well as to Rostock and Warnemünde. If you’re traveling by car, you can easily reach Börgerende via the B105 between Rostock and Wismar. The nearest major train station is in Bad Doberan, from where you can easily continue your journey by bus.

This playground is located near the tourist information office in Börgerende and is idyllically situated under many shady trees. The playground offers lots of fun for children of all ages and is a welcome change. The playground is equipped with various play equipment, such as a climbing and sliding tower that ends in a large sandpit. There is a bird's nest swing suitable for small children and a swing for older children. There is a beam seesaw and also a small spring seesaw, which is located in a second sandpit. For the little ones we have a slide tower with steps and a slide, a table tennis table for older children and benches for adults to sit on. The highlight of the playground is the ropeway which is used by young and old children alike.

The playground is located on Rapsweg in Rethwisch. It is equipped with a climbing and sliding tower and offers various climbing options. The slide tower is embedded in a huge sandpit, so that digging enthusiasts will also get their money's worth. Right next to it, there are two soccer goals for sports enthusiasts, so they can also have a kick-about here. There is a mini bird's nest swing for younger children. There are benches where you can relax at the end of the day.
