How to get to the Brasserie & Bar Loev in Binz on Rügen

Binz is easy to reach by train: The Ostseebad Binz train station is only around one kilometer away, and the Rügen Bäderbahn (Rasender Roland) train stop is also in the immediate vicinity. Binz can be reached by car via the Samtens freeway exit, which is around 20 kilometers away. Those arriving by ferry will also find the nearest landing stage directly in Binz, only about 500 meters from the Loev Hotel.

The Granitzhaus

The former forestry and inn of the Princes of Putbus has housed an information center about the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen since 2004. The Granitzhaus on the island of Rügen is a former forester's lodge and inn dating from 1901, which now houses the information center for the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. It stands directly opposite the Granitz hunting lodge near Binz. In 1726, the then Prince of Putbus Moritz Ulrich I had a hunting lodge built on the open space in front of today's Granitzhaus. This consisted of a main building and two side pavilions. Four consecrated stag heads on the front of the main house indicated the purpose of the building: hunting. The princely hunting party stayed in the main house during the hunting season. The current exhibition in the Granitzhaus is designed to be interactive, arouse curiosity and stimulate reflection. Among other things, visitors can look forward to a "treasure chamber" with very special treasures from the region. There is also an animation on the post-glacial development of the region on a 3D model, which also vividly illustrates the settlement history of south-east Rügen and the development of the Baltic Sea. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
