The children's and youth sailing yacht "Greif von Ueckermünde" was put into service at the beginning of the 1960s as the pioneer sailing ship "Immer bereit" and has been available for maritime children's and youth work ever since. "Always ready" was the greeting of the pioneers, which always followed "Be ready". Since 1993, the two-master has been part of the Center for Experiential Education and Environmental Education in Ueckermünde, which is also its home port.
From May to October, the youth sailing yacht sails with numerous groups from all over Germany on the Szczecin Lagoon, the Bodden waters and the Baltic Sea. Whether it's setting sails or navigating, scrubbing the deck or steering, you can and should get involved in everything, as the aim is to find your own way back to your home port on the last day of the trip. The crew will be instructed by two volunteer skippers in all the procedures on board.
Where the journey goes is determined by the crew's ability, the length of the journey and, of course, the wind/weather, as the engine should be used as little as possible.
Whether a harbor is approached at night or anchored and bathed in protected waters, many things are possible...
