Max Schmeling Memorial
● Klein Luckow
Max Schmeling was born on September 28, 1905 in Klein Luckow. The small memorial in the house where he was born is dedicated to the legendary boxer, the only German boxing world champion of all classes. Many long-distance cycle routes run along here and it is always worth stopping off. It is necessary to book in advance by telephone.
Klein Luckow is nestled in a picturesque terminal moraine landscape at the very tip of the Uckermark and at the beginning of the Szczecin Lagoon region. Many long-distance cycle routes lead to this village and along the memorial site.
Max Schmeling died at the age of almost 100 and was able to look back on an eventful life. He is still regarded today as the most popular sportsman of the 20th century in Germany.
On September 23, 2004, he was awarded honorary citizenship by his native community on the occasion of his 99th birthday.
