The Kavelsdorf Motorway Church is the only motorway church in northern Germany.
The Kavelsdorf Motorway Church is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It can be reached in five minutes via the Kavelstorf exit on the A 19, as well as via the A 20.
The church is believed to have been built around 1225 or earlier. Construction was begun by Westphalian settlers using brick, primarily fieldstone, and served both as a place of worship and as a shelter. It is an impressive structure with well-balanced proportions.
