Radio play church Federow
● Kargow OT Federow
Germany's first radio play church invites you to Federow this summer. The village church, which was founded in the 13th century, stood unused for a long time until this unusual idea saved it from imminent decay. Visitors can take a seat on the simple wooden benches and listen. The children's program runs in the afternoon and there are radio plays for adults in the evening. Readings are also on the program.
Listening to stories in a church is nothing really new. But in Federow, a community of 100 souls at the entrance to the Müritz National Park, it has a special significance. This is where Germany's first radio play church is located.
Founded in the 13th century, the fieldstone church stood unused for a long time until an unusual idea saved it from imminent decay and transformed it into a radio play church. By the summer of 2006, the urgent renovation of the fieldstone church had been completed with funding from the EU LEADER+ program.
In 2006, the radio play church received an award from the nationwide initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas". In 2011, the radio play church was awarded the honorary prize of the "Foundation for the Preservation of Ecclesiastical Monuments in Germany". The program is produced in collaboration with the German Broadcasting Archive Foundation and is supported by NDR, other ARD broadcasting stations and numerous book, audio and theater publishers. The Hörspielkirche is a cultural partner of NDR Kultur and a cooperation partner of the Stiftung Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv.
Donations - admission is free - are used to support the program.
