St. Nicolai Gützkow town church
● Gützkow
The town church of St. Nikolai is located in Gützkow in Western Pomerania. It has a neo-Gothic interior. The fieldstone church in Gützkow was first mentioned in a document in 1241. However, today's church square was a religious site even earlier. There was a pagan temple here, which had to make way for a church building consecrated by Bishop Otto von Bamberg in 1128. The town church was badly damaged in a fire in the 18th century and was rebuilt and restored in the following decades. The church has a neo-Gothic interior. There are stained glass windows in the choir, which depict Martin Luther, Otto von Bamberg, the blessing Christ, Nicholas of Myra and the apostles Peter and Paul, among others.
