Marie Hager House

This historic house, a designated landmark, is dedicated to the memory of the landscape and architectural painter Marie Hager. In addition to her works and items from her estate, works by artists from the region are also regularly exhibited. A permanent gallery featuring works by the Mecklenburg landscape and architectural painter Marie Hager can be seen at Burg Stargard. Also on display are furniture, letters, and other personal items from the estate of the artist, who lived and worked in Burg Stargard from 1921 until her death in 1947. The fact that a major exhibition of Marie Hager’s works is on display in her former home is thanks to one of the painter’s nieces. She bequeathed the estate and the house to the city on the condition that the building be turned into a memorial and a meeting place for art and artists. Three rooms in the lovingly designed house are used for various special exhibitions by artists from the region.

Ice Cream Parlor in Burg Stargard Delicious homemade ice cream—we’ve been making our own ice cream for over 50 years and serving it in our parlor in downtown Burg Stargard, both for eating in and taking home. The ice cream shop evokes a bygone era and is still furnished in an authentic “Ostalgic” style. The “Pinguin Eisdiele” on Markstraße in Burg Stargard has made a name for itself far beyond the city limits of Burg Stargard. A treat for young and old alike. End of the ice cream season: October 11
Burg Stargard Summer Toboggan Run

A day trip filled with fun, adventure, and relaxation. In 2000, a summer toboggan run was successfully opened on the Hunnenberg. Viewed from the air, the Burg Stargard summer toboggan run near Neubrandenburg could look like a serpentine road, the kind found in the mountains. The 720-meter-long toboggan run winds its way through the landscape, overcoming a 30-meter elevation difference with eight steep curves, a jump, and two bridges. Just like in classic winter sports regions, a lift takes tobogganers to the starting point. Night tobogganing is also available upon request. A snack bar on site provides refreshments. The town also features a medieval castle, which gave the town its name and makes for a worthwhile excursion.
