Twin mills New Vorwerk

Twin mills New Vorwerk

Boddin

The twin windmills of Neu Vorwerk are a unique technical monument. The two Dutch windmills standing close together form a landmark of our country. Situated in Mecklenburg Switzerland, you have a fantastic view of the vast landscape. Cranes breed here and eagles fly their circles. Its very origins make it special. The small earthen hut was erected in 1849 so that the windmill could be seen as an ornament from the window of the manor house, just like in the Prussian Sanssouci Palace. The large gallery windmill, built in 1949, was the last new windmill to be built for commercial milling in Germany!!! In operation until 1991, it is today one of the very few windmills in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with fully preserved technology. As a major goal, the mills are being restored as a functioning technical monument. In the future, the blades of the Great Mill will once again turn regularly. This will allow future generations to experience how grain is turned into flour with the help of the environmentally friendly natural power of the wind. Even though the mill is still being renovated, it can already be visited today: >>>> Mill Day, Whit Monday >>>> Heritage Day, 2nd weekend in September If you would like to visit on another date or even support this project, just get in touch.
