Mirow village church
● Banzkow 0T Mirow
One of the earliest neo-Gothic churches with a particularly elegant design. Rare pulpit altar and Runge organ in the interior.
The church in Mirov was built between 1842 and 1845 on the foundations of its medieval predecessor. This makes it one of the earliest neo-Gothic churches and is also considered a particularly high-quality and perfectly formed example of neo-Gothic architecture in the Schwerin region. There are two bells in the tower, whose flat roof no longer corresponds to its original pointed state. One comes from the previous church, while the second was cast in Wismar in 1845. The pulpit altar is rather unusual for a Mecklenburg church. The altarpiece depicts the "Disciples of Emmaus" and is a copy of a painting from the Georgenkirche in Parchim. As in many Lewitz churches, an organ by organ builder Runge can also be heard in Mirow.
