The ceremonial opening of the line between Sellin Ost and Göhren, which includes the Baabe stop, took place in 1899. In 2010, the freight floor track was rebuilt alongside the platforms in order to preserve the historic charm of the station. In addition, the station building has shone in new splendour since the modernization and offers travellers a contemporary ambience.
Cabaret theater Lachmöwe
● Baabe
Cabaret stage with its own ensemble on the island of Rügen. Political-satirical cabaret with high entertainment value and a lot of enthusiasm. The Lachmöwe cabaret theater in the Baltic seaside resort of Baabe is the only cabaret stage with a permanent ensemble in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and one of the few unsubsidized theaters in Germany. The Lachmöwe was founded in 2004 and has developed into the address for cabaret and satire on the island of Rügen. On the one hand, the house ensemble performs changing political-satirical programs with a high entertainment value and a lot of enthusiasm, on the other hand, well-known greats of the cabaret scene are always guests on the stage of the small cellar theater. But here you can not only experience a cultural evening, but also a gastronomic one. The Lachmöwe and Strandhotel team provide the audience with drinks, tarte flambée and snacks before the performance and during the interval. And don't be surprised if the cabaret artists themselves stand at the box office and behind the bar or are on their way with a tray - at the Lachmöwe, the audience service begins before the program! Performances always from Easter to October, in the main season even daily at 8 pm. Tickets for all performances are available online at www.kabarett-lachmoewe.de and at the tourist information offices on Rügen, reservations can be made by telephone on 038303-99075.
