Observation Tower in the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park
One of the tourist attractions of the Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heath Nature Park is the Moorochse observation tower, located on the northern shore of Lake Plau. “Moorochse” is the local name for the great bittern, whose males emit a muffled call from the reeds in the spring. This sounds like the bellowing of an ox. From the tower, you’ll enjoy a truly special view of Lake Plau and the former peat pits. In addition to kingfishers and various species of ducks, with a little luck you may also spot white-tailed eagles or the elusive otter.
