Seebühne Hiddensee - maritime chamber theater in Vitte

The Seebühne Hiddensee in Vitte is a special venue on the German Baltic coast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was founded in 1998 as a summer venue for the Homunkulus Figurentheater Berlin. Since then, it has developed into a permanent cultural venue on the car-free island of Hiddensee.

In 2004, the Seebühne Hiddensee was re-established as a maritime chamber theater. The program is aimed at the whole family and combines theatrical art with the unmistakable character of the island. Those familiar with the cultural offerings of the Baltic Sea region - for example from Stralsund, Greifswald or the nearby island of Rügen - will find the Seebühne Hiddensee an atmospheric addition away from the big stages.

Hiddensee is located to the west of Rügen and can only be reached by ferry - a fact that gives the island and its Seebühne its very own, tranquil character. The island is part of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park and attracts visitors from all over Germany to the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

How to get to the Seebühne Hiddensee in Vitte

You can only get to Hiddensee by ferry. There are departures from Stralsund, Schaprode on Rügen and Breege. The nearest train station for the ferry from Stralsund is Stralsund station, which is easily accessible via the A20 (Stralsund exit). From Schaprode, the crossing to Vitte is particularly short and comfortable.
