The island of Usedom is one of the most bird-rich areas in Germany. A total of over 280 species have been observed, 150 of which also breed here. Eleven species of birds of prey alone regularly breed in the nature park, including the white-tailed eagle. The Usedom Island Nature Park Information Center is located next to the Usedom Town Information Office on the first floor of the Klaus-Bahlsen-Haus Usedom. This visitor center was built and furnished with great commitment and generous support from the foundation of the same name. On the premises of the former Usedom town station building, visitors are provided with information on the natural environment of the island of Usedom using modern technology. The main theme of "water", a characteristic element of the island of Usedom, runs through the entire exhibition. Themes include the beach and dunes as a habitat, life in the reeds, fen use using the example of the Thurbruch and coastal dynamics using the example of the Streckelsberg. The topic of "Nature conservation on Usedom" is also explained using specimens such as sea eagles, otters and beavers. The Usedom Island Nature Park exhibition is complemented by a 23-minute audio-slide show on Usedom Island Nature Park, which can be seen in the hall of the Klaus-Bahlsen-Haus Usedom.

📍 Usedom

Our Inselmühle Usedom, which opened in 2020, is a natural manufactory for high-quality cold-pressed edible oils, natural fruit and vegetable juices, delicious spreads and jams. The heart of our natural manufactory is the oil press. Usedom's liquid gold, our high-quality cold-pressed edible oil, is characterized by its typical natural taste. Gentle pressing without the addition of heat preserves the flavors, vitamins and particularly healthy polyunsaturated fatty acids in the edible oil. We do not use any fruit concentrates and do not add any sugar, antioxidants or flavorings. The delicious and unusual fruit compositions from our jam factory have already found many fans and, in addition to our own honey, we also offer honey from regional beekeepers, whom we are happy to support. We avoid long transportation routes, storage and cooling times through regional cultivation, freshly harvested direct processing and local sales. Our fields and plantations are just a stone's throw away in the direction of the lagoon. Apricots, nectarines and peaches, walnuts, cornelian cherries, old cider apple varieties, quinces, chokeberries, sea buckthorn, currants, haskap and blackberries grow on almost 90 hectares. Our oilseeds are grown by local farmers on the island, true to our motto: "From the region for the region". Convince yourself of our fresh island mill quality "Made in Usedom" in our Bistro & Café, at tastings, events and guided tours. Browse through our store to your heart's content and take a piece of tasteful Usedom home with you.
