The 210 meter wide standing area makes the southern shore of Lake Fleesensee an ideal windsurfing spot in south-westerly to northerly winds. Kiting is permitted in the specially created kite zone, but is only recommended for experts due to the many obstacles on land. The Fleesensee is located in the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is part of the Müritz-Elde waterway. As a result, there is a lot of hustle and bustle on the water here and holidaymakers can be found almost everywhere, from pedal boats and houseboats to excursion boats. Thanks to its central location, the town is not only ideal for surfing but also as a starting point for water hikes in a canoe, kayak or with a SUP. The local water sports school offers the best conditions for this with its wide range of activities. A special feature is the special zone for kitesurfers, as kitesurfing is generally prohibited on federal waterways and is otherwise only permitted in Boek an der Müritz. However, inexperienced kitesurfers should not get out on the water here, as the spot is quite challenging despite the large standing area and is not recommended for beginners. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to N. The Untergöhren surf spot on Lake Fleesensee is one of the most interesting water sports areas in inland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The southern shore of Lake Fleesensee offers good conditions for windsurfers with a standing area of around 210 meters - especially when the wind blows from southwest to north. In contrast to the well-known coastal spots on the Baltic Sea, such as on Rügen or Fischland-Darß-Zingst, this spot attracts with the calmer character of an inland lake in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District.

A special feature of the spot is the dedicated kite zone. As kiting is generally prohibited on federal waterways, Untergöhren is one of the few exceptions in the region alongside Boek an der Müritz. However, due to the numerous obstacles on land, the area is only suitable for experienced kitesurfers. Beginners are better off not starting here.

The local water sports school offers a wide range of courses - from windsurfing to SUP, sailing and canoeing. This makes the spot not only interesting as a surfing spot, but also as a starting point for water hikes on the Müritz-Elde waterway. Toilets and a place to rinse off equipment are available on site. Parking is free of charge, but is located more than 500 meters away.
