Surfspot Peenemünde
Surf spot Peenemünde: Insider tip in the north of Usedom
The Peenemünde surf spot is located at the northern tip of the island of Usedom, directly at the mouth of the Peene River into the Baltic Sea - and is considered by locals to be one of the quietest and most attractive surf spots on the entire island. Those who surf here only share the beach with a few others - a clear advantage over many other spots on Usedom and along the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Optimal wind conditions and shallow water for practising
The spot is ideal in wind directions from north to south-east and delivers waves of up to two meters in strong north-east to east winds. Particularly practical: offshore sandbanks ensure that hardly any waves build up near the shore. The standing area is 120 meters wide and therefore offers enough space for first wave experiences. Beginners and advanced surfers alike will find good conditions here.
Peenemünde away from water sports - museums and historyPeenemünde also has a lot to offer away from water sports. The town is known for its eventful history and is home to several interesting museums that are well worth a visit before or after surfing. The spot itself is located just outside the town center in the direction of Karlshagen. Toilets are available in the parking lot and parking spaces are also available.
