Kühlungsborn surf spot
Surf spot Kühlungsborn: waves and wind on the Baltic Sea
The Kühlungsborn surf spot is one of the better-known spots on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. When the wind blows from the west to north-east, sometimes powerful waves build up in front of the beach, challenging windsurfers and kitesurfers alike. Anyone who knows the conditions knows: you can spend a good day on the water here.
Sports beach at Anglersteig - surfing with fixed rules
As Kühlungsborn is one of the most popular Baltic seaside resorts in summer, kitesurfing is restricted to a clearly defined area directly in front of the Anglersteig in the high season. This keeps the beach safe for bathers. In the low season, the area opens up considerably and the waves can be impressively large in westerly to easterly wind directions. Beware of the groynes, which extend across almost the entire width of the beach and require caution.
Kühlungsborn: more than just a surf spot
With just under 7,000 inhabitants, Kühlungsborn is one of the largest Baltic seaside resorts in the region. After a session, you can end the day in one of the many cafés and restaurants. Those staying longer will also find a climbing forest, a small leisure park and an indoor swimming pool on site. Compared to other spots along the coast - such as Rügen, Usedom or Fischland-Darß-Zingst - Kühlungsborn therefore offers a particularly broad supporting program.
Facilities at the Kühlungsborn surf spot
Toilets and waste disposal facilities are available at the spot. A local surf school offers courses and rental in windsurfing and sailing, as well as diving and motor boating. Parking spaces are also available.
