Surfspot Kreptitz
Surf spot Kreptitz on the Baltic Sea - Rügen's most challenging wave spot
The Kreptitz surf spot on the Baltic Sea is located on the north-west coast of Rügen, nestled in a small nature reserve. Alongside Mukran, it is one of the island's best-known wave spots and attracts experienced windsurfers from all over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and beyond. The waves break particularly cleanly on the offshore sandbanks - up to three meters high in strong winds. The spot is most fun with sideshore from the west-southwest and is suitable for wind directions from W to NE.
Kreptitz windsurfing: Only for pros - rocks and shorebreak included
If you go into the water here, you should know what to expect: The shore break is fierce, the standing area is extremely narrow and there are occasional rocks lurking beneath the surface of the water. Kreptitz is therefore only recommended for absolute professionals. Kitesurfing is not permitted at the spot due to nature conservation regulations - windsurfers are among themselves here.
Access to the Kreptitz surf spot via the cliffs of Rügen
The steep coastline typical of the north-west coast of Rügen makes access to the spot tricky. A narrow, steep steel staircase leads down to the beach with the equipment. Especially on stormy days, it is advisable to use the small meadow above the cliffs for rigging. Parking is available.
