Surfspot Baabe
Surfspot Baabe on the Baltic Sea - wavespot on the Mönchgut peninsula
The Baabe surf spot on the Baltic Sea is located in the state-approved seaside resort of Baabe on the Mönchgut peninsula on the south-east coast of Rügen - one of the most famous islands in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With easterly wind directions, Baabe develops into a reliable wave spot: the waves break cleanly on the offshore sandbanks, around 100 meters from the beach, and run onto the shore with a moderate shorebreak. Thanks to the gently sloping shore, the spot is also suitable for wave beginners.
Surfing and kitesurfing in Baabe - special features and tipsThe fine, long sandy beach of Baabe attracts many bathers in the summer months. In the high season, surfing and kitesurfing are not permitted within the bathing zone marked with buoys, which is why kitesurfing in particular is often only possible safely in the evening hours. The spot is suitable for wind directions from north to south-east. There is a surf school right next to the spot, which offers windsurfing, SUP and sailing courses - even on windless days.
Facilities at the Baabe surf spot on RügenParking facilities are available at the spot. Toilets and disposal facilities are located about 200 meters to the left of the spot. The local surf school also provides a varied range of leisure activities right on the beach in Baabe, away from the optimal wind conditions.
