Paul Holz City Museum and Memorial
The town museum is located in the Prenzlauer Tor, part of the former town fortifications.
Information on the prehistory and early history, town history and garrison history of the town of Pasewalk as well as changing exhibitions on painting, photography, graphics and sculpture are offered on four floors. The 3rd floor houses the memorial to the artist Paul Holz (1883 - 1938). The Museum of the City of Pasewalk was opened in 1996 as a modern new museum building, making it one of the few institutions of its kind in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Today it offers a multifaceted insight into the history of the town and its surroundings. In the Prenzlauer Tor and the adjoining building, the permanent exhibition presents four central thematic areas on around 180 m². It takes visitors through the prehistory and early history between the Uecker and Randow rivers, shows the development of the medieval town, sheds light on the Prussian garrison period and focuses on the destruction during the Second World War and the reconstruction in the GDR. The exhibition combines historical objects with vivid illustrations and thus makes more than 750 years of the town's history comprehensible. The top floor of the gate tower also houses an exhibition on the regional artist Paul Holz. The museum preserves an extensive collection of his works and thus offers special access to his life and work. The offer is complemented by changing special exhibitions and a hands-on room that invites visitors of all ages to become active themselves. Much of the content is presented in three languages (German, Polish and English) and can be explored in greater depth using QR codes. The Museum of the City of Pasewalk is a place where regional history and art can be experienced in an understandable and accessible way - ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the city and its past. Additional information on opening hours Tuesday to Friday: 08:00 - 12:00 - museum educational offers by appointment Every 1st Saturday of the month: 10:00 - 15:00 open
