Serrahn beech forests
Serrahn Beech Forests - UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Baltic Sea coast
The Serrahn beech forests are one of the most impressive natural destinations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you want to experience the Baltic Sea region away from the beach and coast, you will find an extraordinary retreat here that will delight you with its unspoilt tranquillity and rich wildlife
The forest adventure trail between Zinow and Dianenhof
A particular highlight is the forest adventure trail, which connects the villages of Zinow and Serrahn and leads to the Dianenhof parking lot. The trail is around 6.5 kilometers long and can be walked in both directions. We recommend starting at the parking lot in Zinow, from where the trail follows to Dianenhof. Along the way, the route passes through the actual UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a direct insight into one of the oldest and most important beech forest landscapes in Europe.
Exhibition "In the realm of beech trees" in Serrahn
In Serrahn itself, the exhibition "In the realm of beech trees" is well worth a visit. It vividly conveys which creatures use the beech forest as their home and deepens the experience of the nature trail in an informative way. The exhibition is particularly suitable for families and nature-loving visitors who want to learn more about the beech forest ecosystem. The Serrahn beech forests are an ideal destination for an excursion, for example in combination with a vacation on the Baltic coast of Western Pomerania around Stralsund, Rügen or Greifswald.
