Mühlenviertel Teterow

Mühlenviertel Teterow
Historic ensemble of old town mill, mill pond and old fire station. In the middle of the historic town center, just behind the church, is the lovingly renovated mill quarter with the old town mill, mill pond and fire station. The old town mill was rebuilt after the great town fire of 1793 and was in operation as a compound feed mill until the early 1990s. After that, a comprehensive redevelopment of the mill district began. A restaurant and offices were built in the town mill, the mill pond was relined, the old fire station was given a new hose tower based on a historical model and the fire department set up a small museum with old fire-fighting equipment.

Teterow mill quarter - history in the heart of the Baltic Sea region

The Teterow mill quarter is one of the most remarkable historical ensembles in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the middle of the old town center, just behind the town church, the old town mill, mill pond and former fire station combine to create an atmospheric overall picture. Anyone visiting the Baltic Sea coast and looking for cultural history as well as beaches and the sea will find an authentic insight into the urban life of past centuries here.

Teterow town mill - from mill to restaurant

The old town mill was rebuilt after the great town fire of 1793 and was in operation as a mixed feed mill until the early 1990s. After extensive renovation, a restaurant and offices were created in the listed building. At the same time, the mill pond was relined and the ensemble was brought back to life.

Fire brigade museum in the historic fire station in Teterow

During the renovation, the old fire station was given a new hose tower based on the historical model. The Teterow fire department now uses the building as a small museum with historical fire-fighting equipment - a worthwhile stop for history buffs and families alike. The Mühlenviertel is conveniently located between Rostock and Neubrandenburg and can be easily combined with excursions to the Baltic coast of Western Pomerania, for example to Stralsund or Greifswald.
