Climate Forest Stubnitz in Hagen - sustainability at the Jasmund National Park
The Stubnitz climate forest in Hagen on the island of Rügen was opened on October 24, 2015 and is the second climate forest on the island. The reforestation area covers 1.07 hectares on a former paddock on the edge of the Jasmund National Park. The main species planted there are wych elm and bird cherry, as well as oak and lime - tree species that are well adapted to climate change. The area was created in three annual stages as part of the "Rügen Week of Sustainability" and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Königsstuhl visitor center.

Since 2007, over 100 hectares of climate-adapted forest have been planted at 19 locations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - financed by so-called forest shares from holidaymakers, residents and companies. At planting events, interested parties can talk to forestry experts and learn interesting facts about forests and forestry on the Baltic coast.
How to get to the Stubnitz climate forest near Hagen on RügenThe Stubnitz climate forest is located on the Jasmund peninsula in the north-east of Rügen, around 6 km north of Sassnitz. You can reach the area by car via the L 303 road towards Lohme - after around 5.5 km, you will find the large Königsstuhl parking lot at the entrance to Hagen. From there, an approximately 400 m long footpath leads to the climate forest and the National Park Visitor Center. The nearest train station is in Sassnitz, which can be reached via the Rügen Railway from Binz and Bergen auf Rügen.
