Climate forest Seefelder Holz
Climate forest Seefelder Holz - reforestation between Wismar and the Baltic coast
The Seefelder Holz climate forest is located between Wismar and Grevesmühlen, not far from the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The area was opened in spring 2012 with a joint planting campaign - initiated by the Schwerin-based energy supplier WEMAG, the state forestry and the MV tourism association. Over a thousand English oaks and typical forest edge trees such as wild fruit trees and shrubs marked the beginning of this special area, which is now firmly anchored in the series of climate forests in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Climate forests in MV - forest shares for climate protection
Since 2007, more than 100 hectares of climate-adapted forest have been planted at 19 locations throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - from the Baltic coast near Rostock and Stralsund to inland areas. These reforestations were financed by so-called forest shares, which were purchased by holidaymakers, residents and businesses. At planting events, interested parties can talk directly to forestry experts and learn interesting facts about the forest in MV.
