Neustrelitz climate forest
Klimawald Neustrelitz: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's first climate forest in Blumenhagen
On November 28, 2007, the first 100 sessile oaks were planted near Neustrelitz - the starting signal for a state-wide reforestation initiative. The first climate forest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern was created on an area of around 2,000 m² in Blumenhagen. The project was financed by the rail travel specialist Ameropa and the MeetMV conference pool of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern tourism association via so-called forest shares.
Forest shares for new climate forests in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Since 2007, more than 100 hectares of climate-adapted forest have been created at 19 locations throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - from the Baltic Sea coast to Rügen and Fischland-Darß-Zingst and inland. This was made possible by the sale of forest shares to holidaymakers, residents and businesses. At planting events, interested parties can talk directly to forestry experts and gain exciting insights into forest development in the region.
