Dreschvitz climate forest
Climate Forest Dreschvitz - new forest on the island of Rügen on the Baltic Sea
In autumn 2023, a new chapter for climate protection on the Baltic Sea coast was opened in the western part of the island of Rügen: a tree planting campaign created the fifth climate forest on Rügen - the Dreschvitz climate forest. Various tree species are growing here on an area of 1.5 hectares, including hazel, sweet chestnut, service tree, Atlas cedar and small-leaved lime, supplemented by twelve other species of woodland edge trees. Over the next hundred years, this new mixed forest is expected to absorb around 755 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere.
Buy forest shares for the Dreschvitz climate forestIf you would like to actively support the Dreschvitz climate forest, you can purchase so-called forest shares in the online store of the Competence Center for Ecological Securities - for 10 euros each. One forest share represents at least one square meter of newly created climate forest. In this area, a mixed deciduous forest stores around 49 kg of CO₂ in its biomass in one hundred years. The forest share is not a security in the sense of stock corporation law, but a voluntary, personal donation contribution to reforestation.

At planting events, interested parties can talk to forestry experts and learn interesting facts about the forest in north-eastern Germany.
