Climate forest Bützow
Climate forest Bützow - oaks and wild fruit south of the Baltic Sea region
The Bützow climate forest is a special nature project in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the fall of 2010, oak trees were planted for the first time on an area of around two hectares south of Bützow. Numerous residents, guests and companies from the Rostock and Bützow area have been involved in the creation of this forest. Wild fruit trees such as apple and pear as well as shrubs such as rosehip and blackthorn complement the edge of the forest.
Forest shares for climate forests throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
The Bützow climate forest is part of a state-wide project: since 2007, over 100 hectares of new, climate-adapted forest have been planted at 19 locations throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - from the Baltic Sea coast to Rügen and Usedom to Fischland-Darß-Zingst. The reforestation was financed by so-called forest shares, which could be purchased by holidaymakers, residents and businesses. At planting events, interested parties can talk directly to forestry experts and learn interesting facts about the forest in the region.
How to get to the Klimawald Bützow
The reforestation area is located south of Bützow and can be reached via the L 11 in the direction of Tarnow - about 500 meters after leaving the town on the right-hand side. If you are traveling by train, it is best to use the Bützow train station, which is well connected via the Rostock-Schwerin line. By car, we recommend taking the Bützow exit from the B 104 or traveling via Rostock on the B 103.
