The elongated city beach is located on the southern shore of Schwerin's inner lake and can also be easily reached on foot or by bike from the old town. With a width of 20 meters and its enormous length, Zippendorf beach is the largest sandy beach in the city. Hundreds of bathers flock here in summer. The historic beach promenade invites you to take a stroll and its cozy cafés and restaurants provide for your physical well-being. As early as the 19th century, Zippendorf was a popular destination far beyond the city limits. The villas along the beach promenade with cafés and restaurants bear witness to this time. Today, hundreds of sun-seekers flock here in summer, while beach volleyball, disco sounds and cocktail bars regularly create a lively beach atmosphere. While you relax, play badminton or volleyball, the little ones can have fun in the playground. There is a public toilet on site, a barrier-free toilet, a DRK water rescue station and a beach wheelchair. Important information: Swimming supervision in the period from 20.05. to 10.09. Mon.-Fri. from 13:00 to 20:00 At weekends and on public holidays: 12:00 to 20:00 Daily maintenance is from May to mid-September, outside this period maintenance takes place every 14 days. There are signs on site with the current beach rules in German, English, Russian and Arabic at the pavilion. In addition, a beach wheelchair can be borrowed free of charge from the lifeguards on request to make it easier for people with disabilities to get to the water on the sand.

How to get to the Zippendorf beach in Schwerin
Zippendorf beach can be easily reached on foot or by bike from Schwerin's old town. By car, you can quickly reach the city via the A14 highway (Schwerin-Süd exit). Schwerin Central Station is well connected to the long-distance transport network and is particularly conveniently located in the southwest of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern compared to other Baltic destinations such as Rostock, Wismar or Fischland-Darß-Zingst.
