Foundling Klink

Foundling Klink
The boulder is 4.50 m long and around 2.60 m wide. Its height is probably 2.50 m, of which about 1.70 m is above the ground. The determined circumference is about 13.20 m and the volume about 15 m³. It is the largest erratic boulder in the Müritz region and is protected as a natural monument and geotope. The stone is located about 600 m south of Klink Castle, directly on the lakeside path and only about 30 m from the Müritz. A plaque explains the geological features.

Findling Klink - a geological natural monument on the Müritz

The Klink erratic boulder is one of the most remarkable natural monuments in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is the largest known erratic boulder in the entire Müritz region. With a length of 4.50 m, a width of around 2.60 m and a volume of around 15 m³, the stone is an impressive testimony to the Ice Age. Like many erratic boulders along the Baltic Sea coast - for example on Rügen or Fischland-Darß-Zingst - it was once transported here by glaciers from Scandinavia. As an officially recognized geotope, it is a nature reserve.

Located directly on the lakeside path south of Klink Castle

The erratic boulder is located around 600 m south of Klink Castle, directly on the riverside path and only around 30 m from the Müritz. Of its estimated total height of 2.50 m, around 1.70 m protrude visibly from the ground. An information board on the stone explains the geological background and makes the visit particularly educational for families and nature-loving visitors.

Nature experience in the Mecklenburg Lake District

The Klink boulder can be easily integrated into a walk or cycle tour along the Müritz. The region is part of the Müritz National Park and offers a wide range of opportunities to experience the nature of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern away from the well-known Baltic seaside resorts such as Rostock or Stralsund.
