Fountain ship propeller
Ship propeller fountain at the Waren (Müritz) town harbour
An unusual work of art stands at the Waren (Müritz) town harbor: the fountain ship's propeller. The striking landmark honors Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH (MMG), which is based in Waren (Müritz) and is considered the world market leader in ship propeller construction. Ships on all the world's oceans are powered by propellers that are manufactured here in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - a remarkable fact that radiates far beyond the Baltic Sea region.
Foundation and creation of the Propeller Fountain
The fountain was donated by the Rotarians, the Lions Club and private individuals. It was designed by the sculptor Walther Preik, who came to Waren (Müritz) after studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and lived and worked there as a freelance artist.

Many of his works can still be found in public spaces in Waren (Müritz) today. Preik died in Waren (Müritz) in 2018.
