Former Bahnhofshotel Plau am See
Former Plau am See station hotel - history in the Baltic Sea region
The former Bahnhofshotel Plau am See is one of the most striking architectural monuments in the small Mecklenburg town and is a silent testimony to the town's history in the Baltic Sea region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The building at the end of Steinstraße now houses the town's children's and youth center and has thus taken on a new social function.
Memorial plaque on the forced unification of the KPD and SPDThe building has special historical significance thanks to a memorial plaque commemorating the so-called "forced unification" of the KPD and SPD parties - a decisive political event in German post-war history that also left its mark on small towns like Plau am See.
Plau am See - architectural monument in the Mecklenburg Lake District
Plau am See is located inland, but is a popular starting point for excursions to the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Cities such as Rostock, Wismar or the Hanseatic cities of Stralsund and Greifswald are easily accessible from here. The former station hotel blends into the historic cityscape of this charming region as a protected monument.
