Stralsund Beach

A stroll along the Sund Promenade takes you from the Old Town to the Stralsund beach resort in just 10 minutes.

Here, the whole family can enjoy beach life to the fullest and a breathtaking view across the Strelasund to the island of Rügen. As early as the last century, the people of Stralsund had a grand dream: to turn their city into a renowned Baltic Sea resort. The first beach resort was established in 1922. Over time, the site underwent many transformations, from the creation of a fine sandy beach to the installation of sheet pile walls. Following the extensive renovation in 2010–2011, Stralsund residents and visitors now have 20,000 m² of the finest sandy beach at their disposal. While the little ones build sandcastles, dig in the sand, or explore the adventure playground, everyone else can relax on the numerous benches—truly an oasis for fun and relaxation! Since there are no parking spaces at the beach, public transportation or a bicycle is the best way to reach the beach. Bus line 4 goes to the “Klinikum am Sund” stop. From there, it’s just a few meters down to the water. Or you can walk from the Old Town along the Sund Promenade to the Stralsund beach in just 10 minutes.    Accessibility Access to the beach via a ground-level boardwalk Barrier-free entry into the water Beach wheelchairs available for free rental; an accompanying person is required; please register at the snack bar Barrier-free restroom facilities
