Hans-Werner-Richter House

Seebad Bansin

The old Bansin fire station was converted in 2000 into a small literary center with a library and exhibition spaces. With this building, the community honors its most famous son, the writer Hans Werner Richter. He was born on November 12, 1908, in Neu-Sallenthin—now a district of Bansin—and grew up on the Richter family’s farmstead at Seestraße 68 in Bansin. Many of his novels (“Spuren im Sand,” “Bansiner Geschichten,” “Die Stunde der falschen Triumphe”) depict the lives of ordinary people on the island of Usedom during the first half of the last century.Toni Richter, Hans Werner Richter’s widow, bequeathed significant portions of his private estate to the municipality of Bansin after his death in 1993. As a result, Hans Werner Richter’s study and library in the house are open to the public for viewing and use. Special exhibits commemorate him as the founder and leader of “Group 47,” one of the most important literary associations in the history of the young Federal Republic of Germany. Visitors can also use the small public library and access the internet. During the season, readings are held regularly on Friday evenings in the “Günter Grass Room,” where a series of remarkable original prints by Günter Grass are on display.Since the death in 2006 of the Ahlbeck-born writer and journalist Carola Stern, a small exhibition at the Hans-Werner-Richter-Haus commemorates this important witness to the events of the past century.

Studio on Lake Gothen

Studio on Lake Gothen

Seebad Bansin

The studio is located in the seaside resort of Bansin on the picturesque Gothensee. In the gallery, guests can view and purchase a wide variety of colorful paintings, most of which have a maritime theme. The studio also offers intuitive painting classes and painting trips, both in groups and as one-on-one coaching sessions. At the studio, situated on the picturesque Lake Gothen in the seaside resort of Bansin, visitors can (by prior telephone arrangement and, of course, during the KunstOffen event over the Pentecost holidays) view and purchase an extensive selection of paintings in a wide variety of formats and motifs (surreal, atmospheric, maritime, nature-inspired, figurative...) by artist Heike Dittrich. Advice on framing the paintings is also available. If you have a very personal request for a painting—for example, your favorite spot on Usedom, your favorite beach, or one of the beautiful piers, etc.—you can also schedule a private appointment. Those who would like to engage in a creative—and relaxing—activity on their own can participate in one of the intuitive painting classes or painting trips. During the warmer months, the intuitive, healing painting sessions take place outdoors, usually right on the beach (e.g., on the cliffs of Bansin, at the Hohe Ufer in Ahrenshoop, on Rügen near the Königsstuhl...). You can also book in-depth one-on-one painting coaching here. This is ideal if you’re in the midst of a process of change and transformation, moving toward your true calling and, ultimately, your true self.
