The silhouette of the town of Parchim in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin region is dominated by St. Mary's Church, an impressive example of late Romanesque church buildings in Mecklenburg. The parish church of St. Mary impressively shapes the skyline of the town of Parchim and is a legendary brick building on a fieldstone base from the period of transition from late Romanesque to early Gothic. The church was consecrated in 1278 and is part of the European Route of Brick Gothic The most valuable parts of the interior include the bronze baptismal font from 1365, the carved winged altar with 24 saints from the 15th century, a Renaissance pulpit from 1601 and an organ from 1670/80. Also noteworthy are the Jewish gravestones from the 13th/14th century. Visits Visits are possible on request during the renovation.
