The Greifswald Gate in Grimmen - history from the 14th century
The Greifswald Gate in Grimmen is one of the town's most remarkable historical buildings. It was built between 1350 and 1400 as part of Grimmen's medieval defenses and is now one of three remaining town gates. Grimmen is located in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, not far from the famous Baltic Sea regions around Stralsund, Greifswald and the island of Rügen.
Late Gothic brick building with an eventful past
The Greifswald Gate was originally a representative late Gothic brick building. Around 1800, it was severely damaged by a lightning strike. Due to a lack of funds, it was rebuilt somewhat smaller and less ornate than the original structure. In 1980, the gate was finally extensively renovated and thus preserved for posterity.

The offer is complemented by an organic market garden, where seasonal vegetables and herbs are grown, as well as a small farm with mother-based dairy cattle farming and a village maintenance workshop, which is also active in the surrounding area.
