The Grevesmühlen Malt Factory was built in 1873 on top of the rock cellar constructed by brewer Heintzmann. Today, the administrative offices of the Nordwestmecklenburg district are housed in this historic, protected building.

The Grevesmühlen Malt Factory is one of the most striking historic buildings in the town of Grevesmühlen in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg. It was built in 1873 on the so-called “Felsenkeller,” which brewer Heintzmann had previously had constructed. The historic building on Börzower Weg uniquely combines industrial history with the cityscape of the former county seat.

Today, the district administration of Northwest Mecklenburg uses the historic building as its administrative headquarters. The former malt factory has thus undergone a remarkable repurposing without losing its architectural character as an industrial monument.
