Friedrichshagen Pottery Studio

Workshop and gallery exhibition, live pottery demonstrations, hands-on pottery wheel sessions, and raku firing.

Over these three days, I will be demonstrating the process of transforming clay into finished tableware in my workshop through live pottery demonstrations and raku firing in the afternoons. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try their hand at the potter’s wheel.

Kleine Töpferei Friedrichshagen – Clay from lump to finished tableware

At the Kleine Töpferei Friedrichshagen, the pottery workshop opens its doors to visitors who want to experience the craft of pottery up close. On special event days, the entire journey of the clay—from raw material to finished tableware—is vividly demonstrated in the workshop and gallery exhibition. Friedrichshagen is located in the heart of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, not far from the Baltic Sea coast, offering a unique combination of nature and regional arts and crafts.

Watch a live pottery demonstration and try your hand at pottery

During the live pottery demonstration, guests can watch as a lump of clay is transformed into a vessel on the potter’s wheel. Those who wish to can also try their hand at the potter’s wheel and experience shaping clay for themselves. In the afternoon, the program features raku firing—a traditional Japanese firing technique that creates unique surfaces and glazes through rapid temperature changes. This makes the visit a special experience even for those with no prior knowledge.

Experience pottery craftsmanship on a short getaway to the Baltic Sea

Friedrichshagen is an ideal destination for guests exploring the Baltic Sea region of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Whether as a day trip from Greifswald, Stralsund, or the Fischland-Darß-Zingst region—the Kleine Töpferei can be easily combined with a stay on the coast and offers a peaceful alternative to a visit to the beach.
