Eickelberg Manor House - Classicist manor house in the Warnow Valley

The Eickelberg manor house is one of the quiet discoveries in the interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The neoclassical manor house, built in 1840, is located in the scenic Warnow Valley, between the towns of Bützow and Sternberg, in the middle of the Sternberg Lake District Nature Park. The area is characterized by wide lakes, rolling hills, river valleys, meadows and extensive forests - a quiet contrast to the well-known Baltic Sea coast with its destinations such as Rostock, Wismar or Fischland-Darß-Zingst.

History of the manor house: from the von Lützow family to vacancy

The estate once belonged to the von Lützow family, a line of Mecklenburg nobility. The building was rebuilt several times over the centuries. The oldest part of the building can be recognized by its characteristic clay half-timbering. Since the 1990s, the manor house has stood empty and fallen into disrepair - in the meantime, it was even used as a film set for a staged fire.

Refurbishment and tour: A manor house is saved

For several years, the Eickelberg manor house has been lovingly renovated together with its park and former farm buildings. The ensemble is gradually coming back to life. The estate is already open to visitors on certain dates and for events; tours are available on request.
