Numerous historical exhibits bring to life stories of daily life and work in the local community of Börgerende-Rethwisch.

The local history museum has been in existence since 1982 and reopened in April 2009 following the restoration of the building and a newly designed exhibition created with great attention to detail. You will learn a great deal about the community’s 700-year history, traditional local crafts, and agriculture. Through selected historical exhibits, you’ll embark on a journey of discovery through the history of this Baltic Sea community. Börgerende Local History Museum – History of a Baltic Sea Community

The Börgerende Local History Museum offers a vivid insight into the more than 700-year history of the community of Börgerende-Rethwisch on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast. Numerous historical exhibits tell the story of the lives and work of the people who have shaped this coastal region, not far from Rostock, over the centuries.

Newly designed exhibition on crafts and agriculture in Börgerende-Rethwisch

Since its founding in 1982, the museum has been an important center of regional cultural heritage. Following a comprehensive restoration of the building, it reopened in April 2009 with a completely redesigned exhibition. Curated with great attention to detail, the exhibits provide fascinating insights into traditional local crafts and the region’s agriculture. Visitors to the coastal towns of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, such as Fischland-Darß-Zingst, Wismar, or Stralsund, will also find an authentic piece of North German regional history in Börgerende-Rethwisch.

This playground is located near the tourist information office in Börgerende and is idyllically situated under many shady trees. The playground offers lots of fun for children of all ages and is a welcome change. The playground is equipped with various play equipment, such as a climbing and sliding tower that ends in a large sandpit. There is a bird's nest swing suitable for small children and a swing for older children. There is a beam seesaw and also a small spring seesaw, which is located in a second sandpit. For the little ones we have a slide tower with steps and a slide, a table tennis table for older children and benches for adults to sit on. The highlight of the playground is the ropeway which is used by young and old children alike.

The playground is located on Rapsweg in Rethwisch. It is equipped with a climbing and sliding tower and offers various climbing options. The slide tower is embedded in a huge sandpit, so that digging enthusiasts will also get their money's worth. Right next to it, there are two soccer goals for sports enthusiasts, so they can also have a kick-about here. There is a mini bird's nest swing for younger children. There are benches where you can relax at the end of the day.

The following restriction applies to the equestrian beach from April 1 to September 30: riding is prohibited from access no. 0 eastwards to the "Ghost Forest". Riding is only permitted in the designated beach areas.
