Duckwitzer See Swimming Area
There is a swimming area with a playground that invites children and adults to spend the whole day there when the weather is nice.
The lake belongs to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, is leased to the fishing association, and has been restored by pumping sediment from the lake bottom into a nearby disposal area. This is intended to further improve water quality—though the lake has always had water suitable for swimming anyway. There is a swimming area with a playground that invites children and adults to spend the whole day there when the weather is nice. The lake is large enough for rowing and paddling trips, rafts, and even dragon boats have been spotted during training. In recent winters, the lake has often frozen over, allowing for ice skating and ice fishing. Hoarfrost, snow, and ice transform the landscape in such a way that one sometimes forgets how beautiful the rest of the year is. It’s also a place of tranquility—even quieter than in the summer. The estate on Lake Duckwitz consists of the manor house, a renovated horse stable, the old cattle barn, the granary, and nearly 4 hectares of gardens and parkland. The lake’s shores are densely overgrown with reeds and are protected as a nature reserve. The park features mature trees and offers wonderful views all year round. The sunsets over the lake never fail to enchant.

Duckwitzer Lake in Behren-Lübchin is a tranquil gem in the hinterland of Mecklenburg’s Baltic Sea coast, not far from Rostock. The park’s mature trees and the sunsets over the lake leave a lasting impression all year round.

In past winters, the lake was often frozen over, offering unusual recreational opportunities, including ice skating and ice fishing.
