Bathing beach Am Schwarzen Busch

Bathing beach Am Schwarzen Busch
Bathing was "invented" on the island of Poel at Am Schwarzen Busch beach. The first spa guests discovered the beach, just 1.3 kilometers from Kirchdorf, in the 1920s. It was during this time that the now lovingly restored buildings of the Kurhaus were built directly on the beach. In the 1950s, a settlement of thatched vacation homes was built directly on the dune, which has been extended in recent years with new thatched houses. Many of these houses are now rented out to vacation guests and offer ideal conditions for a seaside vacation due to their unique location. The beach, which is secured by groynes and lifeguards in the high season and covered with fine sand, has grown in width in recent years and has become the most popular beach on the island. The unobstructed view of the ferries sailing past on the horizon towards Scandinavia awakens wanderlust, and not only in seafarers. Enjoy this unique atmosphere in any weather, well protected in one of the many beach chairs set up for you. Directly behind the beach is a new promenade with numerous restaurants, children's play equipment and a mini-golf course. Just a few steps away, an attractive indoor playground awaits its guests, and not just in rainy weather. The Ostseeklinik Insel Poel, a rehabilitation facility for mothers and children, is idyllically situated on the edge of a small oak forest, from which this district takes its name.

Bathing beach Am Schwarzen Busch - the oldest bathing resort on the island of Poel

Bathing at Schwarzer Busch on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has a long tradition on the island of Poel. The first spa guests discovered the beach, which is just 1.3 kilometers from Kirchdorf, back in the 1920s. The lovingly restored Kurhaus right on the beach is still a reminder of these early days. With fine washed-up sand, groynes and lifeguards on duty in high season, the Am Schwarzen Busch beach has become the most popular beach on the island.

Red-roofed vacation homes and promenade right on the beach

A charming settlement of thatched vacation homes, which has been growing since the 1950s and many of which are now rented out to holidaymakers, is located directly on the dune. A new beach promenade with restaurants, children's play equipment and a mini-golf course completes the offer. Whatever the weather, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the passing ferries heading towards Scandinavia - a feeling that makes even landlubbers yearn for faraway places.
